The ICL (Implantable Contact Lens) is a
state-of-art refractive error solution that is ideal for anyone who has the
need or desire for removal of power with high quality of vision correction. ICL
or Implantable Contact Lens, as the name suggests, is a kind of lens which is
implanted into the eye and does not require frequent removal like a normal
contact lens. This phakic intraocular lens has numerous advantages including
its correction of the widest range of myopia (near sightedness), hyperopia (far
sightedness) and astigmatism (cylindrical power).
Both LASIK and ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) can
be used to correct nearsightedness. However, ICL is frequently recommended for

power more then 8 D) who may not be a good candidate for LASIK.
The ICL is an implantable lens that works with the
natural lens of your eye to improve your vision. During the procedure, the lens

who cannot have LASIK surgery because of high prescription (-3 and up to -15),
thin corneas or dry eyes.
Patients with astigmatism can also be candidates
for this procedure. If necessary, Dr. Modi can treat the astigmatism with LASIK
shortly after the lenses are in place and healed or you can go for Toric ICL
lens implantation.
Like LASIK, both eyes can be done on the same day.
The procedure takes approximately 15 minutes per eye. However, your visit on
the day of surgery will take about 4 hours including pre and post-op care.
Recovery from an ICL procedure is relatively quick. You can expect to return to
work within a couple of days of surgery.
